Lt Col Jiyane appointed new Masvingo 4.1 Brigade army commander

COLONEL Lovemore Dominic Nolwazi Jiyane, has been seconded to 4.1 Brigade in Masvingo as the new Combatant Commander.
The post fell vacant after the death of Lieutenant Colonel Charles Gwangwava in an accident in December last year.
Before his appointment Lt Col Jiyane was Training Staff Officer Grade One Training and courses at Army Headquarters Branch.
He participated in the liberation struggle under the auspices of ZIPRA from 1977 up to 1979.

At Independence he was attested into the integrated Zimbabwe National Army as a captain and appointed adjutant of 404 Infantry Battalion which was then based at Connemara.

In the following year he was posted to 2.0 Infantry Battalion in Mt Darwin before being transferred to 1.0 Brigade at Ntabazinduna after which he was posted to the National Training Branch in Harare where he worked in a number of departments.

Lt Col Jiyane once worked at 4 Infantry between 1996 and 97 before he went to Angola under the United Nations (UN) peace keeping mission.

He also went to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in 2000 and was deployed in the Eastern Front as intelligence officer serving under, 4 Infantry Brigade.

In 2008 he was appointed Director of Staff, Joint Command and Staff Course officer before being attached to Namibia as advisor to the Chief Instructor at the Namibian Command and Staff College in 2011.
