BIYA and Friends Academy is calling upon the business community to partner them during their end of year awards ceremony scheduled for Saturday at Luveve Youth Centre by sponsoring some of the awards on offer.

According to Thulani “Biya” Ncube, the ceremony is meant to award outstanding players as a way of motivating them to keep working hard at school as well as on the field of play.

“We are calling upon individuals as well as the business community to partner us by sponsoring some of the awards. I feel giving players these awards is a way of motivating them because it’s not easy to do two things at one time, that is playing football and going to school. Outstanding players on the field of play in the two categories will be given sports kits, they will go on to be attached to established teams working with Biya and Friends locally for further development. Their counterparts who have done exceptionally well in class will have their fees paid by the academy in addition to receiving books as well as reading material to use at school,” said Ncube.

Awards are targeting girls as well as boys who attained the best school grades from the age groups of under 12,13,15 as well as under 17 during the year 2019.

Other awards up for grabs on the day include Player of the Year for both girls as well as well as boys’ teams, U13, U15, U17, Division Three side, Top goal scorer overall Boys, Top Goal scorer Girls Teams as well as the Goalkeeper of the Year.

Ncube also took the opportunity to thank everyone who has assisted the academy to meet its mandate over the years.

“On behalf of Biya and Friends Academy I want to thank everyone who has been supporting us from day one, without you guys we couldn’t have made it this far,” he said.

According to Ncube, plans are also underway to hold a tournament alongside the awards ceremony either on the day or the next day.
