BODY Works Gym, working with two charity organisations are holding a fundraiser at Busters Sports Club on Saturday for a Bulawayo youngster, Mthabisi Siziba who has to go to Harare to be attended to by specialists.

The gym responded to a request from Where There’s A Need Foundation and Rare Diseases and Disabilities Foundation to have the boot camp fundraiser in aid of the youngster.  Gretl Greenland of Where There’s A Need Foundation said Siziba, a six year old from Magwegwe has a number of ailments as he cannot speak, has bowel movement problem, has suggestive hirschsprung disease and a neurogenic bladder.

Through assistance from the two charity organisations, Siziba has been seen by private specialist, attention from Mpilo Central Hospital specialists, had an MRI and abdominal scans as well as CT scan of the brain.

“We will having a boot camp at Busters Sports Club on Saturday, it’s a fundraiser hosted by Body Works Gym. It’s in aid of Mthabisi Siziba’s assessments and consultations in Harare. Mthabisi is six years old, he lives in Magwegwe, from infancy he has been suffering with urine retention and bowel movement problems. The Bulawayo specialists say he needs to go to Harare for a child neurosurgeon specialist to take over,’’ Greenland said.

Greenland, working together with Tinotenda Mudarikwa, the founder of Radda are determined to give Siziba a normal life with $2 000 required for his trip to Harare to be seen by specialists.

“Money wise we need about $2 000 to cover travel expenses, accommodation, medical and incidentals. If we can get more the better because we don’t know what further procedures he may need in Harare. We are really grateful to Body Works Gym, when we approached them with this idea they were forthcoming from the start,’’ she said.

It promises to be a fun filled family day with a lot of entertainment for all ages. Jumping castles, treasurer hunt, dance competition, short distance racing, five-a-side football for men and women, volleyball, Tug of War and netball are some of the activities that have been lined up on Saturday.
