IN an effort to raise funds for their own activities as well as the club, the Highlanders South Africa Supporters Chapter is holding a fundraiser dubbed Come and Meet a Legend at Beria Park in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Some of the Bosso greats expected to attend are Alexander Maseko and Boy Ndlovu who are both domiciled in the neighbouring country.

Khumbulani Moyo, the Highlanders South Africa chapter secretary general said Saturday’s event is held yearly with the aim to raise funds for their own activities, for the club and to recruit new members.

“It’s an annual event that takes place in South Africa, the objectives are to enrol new members, fundraising for the chapter as we to try to assist the club in some of the issues they might need assistance in. Some of the funds raised at this function assist the chapter to transport supporters in the chapter towards the big matches in Zimbabwe like the one against Dynamos in Bulawayo,’’ Moyo said.

Maseko and Ndlovu are expected to meet with Bosso supporters in Mzansi with South Africa-based Zimbabwe musicians to provide entertainment.

“We want to bring together legends such as Alexander Maseko and Boy Ndlovu who are based in South Africa to meet supporters and share their experience and bring musicians who are based in South Africa who will provide entrainment to the supporters, traditional food from Zimbabwe will be sold and regalia. This is a Highlanders sanctioned event,’’ said Moyo.

At the moment the chapter has so 40 paid up members, with membership pegged at R150 per year. The chapter has a potential to have 800 registered members. According to Moyo, through the event they are having on Saturday, they are hoping to push up their membership to at least 500 by June.
