THE country needs an educated youth to take part in the rebuilding of Zimbabwe’s economy by making helpful contributions to Government, a Zanu-PF Bulawayo provincial leader said yesterday.

The party’s provincial secretary for Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Cde Mlungisi Moyo was one of the graduands capped by President Mugabe at the National University of Science and Technology (Nust) recently.

He graduated with a Masters Degree in Business Administration adding to another Masters in Operations Research from the same institution and an honours degree in Statistics from the University of Zimbabwe.

“As leaders, we want to contribute towards the reorganisation of the economy and to that effect we need to be sharpened intellectually so that when we get involved in issues of national development, we make practical contributions,’ said Cde Moyo.

“The challenges that the country is facing now are sophisticated and need the best brains available to move the nation forward. We come from a party whose leader President Mugabe is so passionate about education especially the youth, the future leaders of this great nation.”

Cde Moyo said both party and country need sophisticated youths that would go beyond sloganeering.

“Education is very important in all aspects of life, whether you want to start a business or engage in anything because you need the foundational skills. In this age of technology, the youth should go beyond sloganeering and be equipped with the necessary skills to address challenges,” he said.

“We hope to inspire the youth in the party and society at large to take education seriously. Yes not everyone can attain degrees but there are so many training institutions that offer training in a number of fields where the youths’ minds can be sharpened.”

Meanwhile, Sunday News senior business reporter Roberta Katunga graduated with a Masters Degree in Journalism and Media Studies at the same ceremony.
