A Bulawayo gospel artiste claims to have released three albums, which he says are on demand, following a prophesy by Eagle Life Assembly Church founder and prophet — Blessing Chiza.
Obert Chida (35) said Prophet Chiza, together with his wife Tatiana picked and prophesied on him among a horde of congregants at the church.
He said they prophesied he would record gospel music that was going to influence people to change their lives.
Chida said he acknowledged the prophecy after releasing his first and second albums titled — Igwe the God King and Makomborero earlier this year.
He, however, said the album was financially sponsored by Prophet Chiza.
“My talent was discovered by Prophet Chiza and his wife Tatiana, they told me that they saw me recording gospel albums and a few months later, I collaborated with the church choir and released two albums. I later released my own albums because of the response I got from the audience,” he said.
Chida, a father of two said he started singing at the age of 18 when he was still at school.
He said being a child of God drove him to producing gospel music since it was the only way for him to spread the word of God.
“I am a child of God and the only way I can spread the word of God is through gospel music,” said Chida
Chida said he faced financial challenges and was grateful to his sponsors, who happened to be the Chizas.
“Like most artistes, I faced challenges. Among those challenges was the lack of finance, which delayed me in getting the music out to the people. In most cases I would write songs but due to the lack of funds fail to record them,” he said.
Chida said he looked up to Michael W Smith, who is part of Hillsong Australia and other gospel artistes.
“I am looking forward to releasing a live DVD before the end of this year, that’s how passionate I am about music and the word of God,” he said.
