OUTGOING Headquarters One Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Augustine Chipwere has commended the organisation of yesterday’s EII Matabeleleand Fun Shoot held at Woolandale Shooting Rage in Matopos saying it is growing stronger each year.

Brig Gen Chipwere, who will be moving to Zimbabwe Defences Forces Headquarters in Harare, said it was the first year the whole shoot was organised by the civilian Executive Interactive Initiative Committee with the army providing technical assistance only.

“This is the first shoot to be fully organised by the civilian committee and the turnout is impressive with the event well organised.

“It (the event) has grown over the years since we started in 2016 and it is growing stronger each year as shown by the demand of the participants who are eager to see such events being organised frequently,” he said.

This year the event was sponsored by cement manufacturer, PPC alongside Willsgrove Market, Heads and Hooves, Afdis, United Refineries, Baker’s Inn, Rainbow Hotel and Nyaradzo among a plethora of partners.

The event saw shooters coming from as far as Harare with Harare City Shooting Club members taking part in the shoot.

Matabeleland EII chairman, Trust Mabaya said they would build on the presence of Harare City shooting club members to invite more participants from other areas.

“The turnout was impressive as we had more than 200 shooters and we had to limit the numbers in some events.

“We are looking forward to a bigger event next year with more enthusiastic shooters,” he said.

Shooters took part in events that included the 100m AK, 200m AK shoot and the falling plates team competition.
