A KEZI family has cried foul over alleged injustice after their father died in suspicious circumstances with his daughter also being raped but the authorities have refused to prosecute the perpetrators.

The family of the late Mr Micheal Moyo, a war veteran under the Zipra wing and former soldier revealed that upon his retirement he had joined the opposition MDC where together with his daughter Muziokuthula Moyo were active in recruiting members for the opposition in the Kezi area.

It was revealed that at the height of his activism he disappeared for a couple of days only for his body to be discovered with indications that he had been tortured to death.

“Moyo was targeted for his activism for the opposition, he, together with his daughter were accused of being sellouts, especially him who was a former freedom fighter under Zipra and also a retired soldier.

“The local MP, Saul Mahalima Ncube particularly targeted him where he even threatened him with unspecified action for his activism with the opposition, at one point his wife, children and grand children after they (Moyo and Muziokuthula) had gone for an MDC rally in Tshelanyemba,” said a relative who declined to be named fearing victimisation.

The relative revealed that after the body of the late Mr Moyo was discovered authorities denied them an opportunity to have a post mortem done on the body as they had suspected foul play.

“It was clear that Moyo had been tortured but no one wanted to entertain our request to have us get a post mortem we tried to question what authority they have to do that but this hit a brick wall. Further, after Moyo’s funeral the homestead was also burnt down by people we suspect belong to Zanu-PF.

“To make matters worse Muziokuthula was recently subjected to rape after she had been abducted from her Nketa home by people claiming she was wanted for questioning by the police. She tried reporting this issue to the police but no one cared to entertain her, instead she was told she was wanted for a case involving convening illegal meetings in Kezi. As it is we don’t know her whereabouts as she went into hiding claiming she now feared for her life,” said the relative.
