FC PLATINUM coach Norman Mapeza says points are getting difficult to bag as the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title race heats up with each passing week.

Speaking after his side edged out an embattled Black Rhinos at Mandava yesterday, courtesy of Rodwell Chinyengetere’s 49th minute strike, Mapeza said although Pure Platinum Play did not do justice to the chances they created collecting maximum points was the main mission.

“We had to work hard for these points. In the first half we had some opportunities but the cutting edge was lacking and we spoke about it during half time. And the guys worked so hard. You know the games are now becoming very difficult, goals are now getting difficult to get by, points are also now getting difficult to get. But I’m happy we worked so hard and got the three points. Obviously we would have wanted more goals but for me three points is enough. Who doesn’t want to score goals? We want 10 goals, we want 12 goals but if we get a goal and we manage to get three points, I’m happy. I’m happy with that.”

Mapeza insisted that his team is not worried with how their title rivals are fairing.

“We are not going to think about what Chicken Inn is going to do what Ngezi is going to do or what even Dynamos is going to do. I think we just have to concentrate on our games, take each game as it comes then we will see how the season goes,” he said.

Meanwhile, Black Rhinos coach Stanford Stix Mtizwa looked shattered after his team’s seventh consecutive defeat.

“It’s becoming worrisome. The guys are playing very well but scoring has been so difficult for us this second half of the season. Again we are going back to the drawing board, we hope our next game (we will win) . . . it’s now our seventh game losing, so we need to work extra hard,” he said.
