THE Chapepa sisters, Kudzai (12) and Kuzivaishe (9) made a clean sweep at the MP KPM Academy meet in Middleburg, Mpumalanga, South Africa where they clinched both the doubles and singles events held over the weekend.

Playing in the Under-14, Kudzai went into the tournament as a top seed and received a bye in the opening round before squaring off against Petra Wassenaar in the quarter finals whom she beat 6-3, 6-1 and she faced Tannika Van Den Berg 6-1, 6-0 and in the final she won 6-0, 6-0 against Kaitlin Meyer.

She partnered with Sphesihle Maphalala to beat Kaitlin Meyer and Shantal Thompson in the doubles event.

In the Under-12, Kuzivaishe also began the tournament as the top seed, winning her first match 6-0, 6-0, against Phillipa Mulder and in the quarterfinals she beat Sonel Maritz 6-4, 6-1 while in the semifinals she got the better off Cameroon Watts 6-1, 6-2, before beating Sinethemba Makhubedu 6-2, 6-1 in the final.

Kuzivaishe teamed up with Watts to beat Natalie Fourie and Makhubedu 2-6, 6-1, 15-13 in the doubles.

The wins follow last week’s victory for Kudzai as she won her second Wilson Grand Prix Under-14 girls singles title in two months, having it won earlier in January. The tournament was played in Pretoria.
