MTV Shuga Down South is set to return to the big screen in Bulawayo, with movie giant Ster Kinekor set to screen three episodes of the HIV awareness series over the next few weeks.

The series, brought to Zimbabwe by multi-talented socialite and event organiser Gilmore Tee, will be screened on 29 February and 7 March before ending its run with another screening on 14 March. This will be the second season of MTV Shuga Down South. Gilmore Tee brought the series for the first time in 2017 as its Zimbabwean licensee while also serving as brand ambassador for Ster Kinekor.

MTV Shuga is an award-winning HIV/Aids awareness drama series set across East, West Africa and South Africa. This season was filmed in South Africa and exposes how young people are getting exposed to HIV/Aids. Love, heartache, broken dreams and the struggle to overcome life’s challenges are at the heart of MTV Shuga.

The multiple award-winning show which is produced by the MTV Staying Alive Foundation shines a light on some of the sensitive issues that young people in Africa face on a daily basis, including access to contraception, teenage pregnancy and transactional sex.

MTV Shuga has been hailed for its ability to tell stories told that are fictional but represent the actual lived realities of the young boys and girls who make up the bulk of its audience.
