Murowe wins the JM Busha Triangular Series race

ZIMBABWE Correctional Services athlete Patience Murowe set White Stadium on fire yesterday after walking to the winner’s podium twice on the same day during the JM Busha Triangular Series event hosted by the National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe.

Murowe was the fastest athlete over 5 000m and 1 500m female categories despite the fact that she had earlier on competed in the heat of the two events. Like a true champion she defied fatigue to show her peers a clean pair of feet on her way to glory in the process, was crowned the champion on a wet morning.

During the 1500m race she needed 4 minutes 44,42second to break the tape only to return later to be crowned the winner again after being the first runner to cross the line during the running of the 5 000m women’s category a task she completed in 16 minutes 24,29seconds.

“I am feeling happy because it is part of the training for the upcoming races in the international areana,”said Murowe

When asked how she managed to run two races one after the other, she said the plan was to use the 1 500m race as the warm up for the 5 000m race.

“The plan was to use the 1 500m race as the warm up for the 5 000m long race which is my ideal distance and the plan worked well, “added Murowe.

In the men’s 1 500m and 5 000m category Black Rhinos Athletics team made a clean sweep of all the prices on offer after posting two winners plus the two runners up in addition to the fourth slot taken during the running of the 1 500m.

There was also something to smile home about for another lady athlete Sokulohle Mlalazi after she won the women’s 100m race. In the high jump category Mathe Msamanyada emerged the winner after clearing 1,95m to land the crown. Not to be outdone Nkomo Buss was the best javelin thrower after seeing his travel cruise through the air to fall at 36,68m. As part of their Triangular Series Naaz are set will take their act to Mutare and then wind up in Kwekwe all as part of their preparations for major events in the region and beyond.
