BRIAN Muza finally remembered how to score when his second half header handed Chicken Inn a second consecutive win in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League when they saw off Whawha at Luveve Stadium yesterday.

It was the eleventh goal for Muza this season and came as a huge relief as the striker had not scored any league goal since the end of June when he scored in a 4-1 victory over Cranborne Bullets.

The win saw Chicken Inn temporarily move into second position with 51 points, a point ahead of Dynamos who are in action this afternoon against Ngezi Platinum Stars. Whawha remained at the bottom of the pile with 20 points.

Substitute, Neilson Ketala provided an assist with his first touch of the ball as he set-up Muza in what turned out to be the only goal in what was otherwise a dull encounter. Muza headed home a Ketala cross from the left with 14 minutes to full-time. Prior to that moment, it had been a lifeless encounter.

Whawha midfielder Calum English Brown in some instances tried to bring the game alive with his fancy footwork, but the moments were far in-between. However, playing at home, Chicken Inn lacked any real spine and were short of attacking options and creativity. Chicken Inn coach, Joey Antipas conceded it had been a frustrating afternoon for his charges.

“It was a frustrating afternoon. Had our strikers been a bit more serious in front of goal we could have scored more goals. I saw it at training when we did a shooting practice that there was some lack of seriousness and it was the same today. We should have wrapped this game in its early stages. However, we have managed to get two wins in a row which is positive for us,” said Antipas.

Whawha coach Luke Petros Jukulile said the result places them in an even more difficult position in their fight against relegation.

“We are ready to fight, but it’s getting more difficult for us to survive relegation with the results that we are getting,” said Jukulile.
