NGEZI Platinum Stars coach, Benjani Mwaruwari was a relieved man after his team returned to winning ways in the Castle Lager Premier League with a resounding victory over Bulawayo City at Barbourfields Stadium.

 Barbourfields Stadium

Before their win yesterday, Madamburo had drawn with Manica Diamonds and lost to Whawha.

Amakhosi on the other hand had enjoyed a good run under Farai Tawachera, which had seen them go for four matches without tasting defeat, which saw them record one win and draw three.

Bruno Mtigo opened the scoring for the visitors in the 56th minute, Denver Mukamba made it two with a well-executed free kick from outside the box before Delic Murimba completed the rout four minutes before the end.

Mwaruwari felt that there were due for a win against a team that was in good form.

“We were due for that win, as you all know that we lost our last game, a game before that we drew so when we were coming to a team that was performing so well, they were due as well for a loss, it was nice to see my boys coming from the break and coming back with a win,’’ said Mwaruwari.

Tawachera was of the view that they gifted Ngezi with the opening goal prior to giving away a free kick which resulted in the second goal.

“I think first we gave them the first goal then after that we become reckless, conceded an unnecessary free kick, which we should have avoided.

Second-half, we were supposed to go at them but knowing the quality we’ve got we also had to be a bit cautious,’’ said Tawachera.

Manica Diamonds

City are still languishing second from bottom with just 12 points, only better than Whawha who are in action against Manica Diamonds at Ascot Stadium this afternoon.
