BEING new in the music circles is quite a challenge but if you hang out with the right crowd things can work in your favour.

Njabulo Nkomo known in the music circles as Tytan, played his cards right and his association with household names in the music industry has gained him the popularity he needed to break into the showbiz industry.

He features alongside the ravishing Amara Brown in the seductive hit Mukoko.

Their duet in producing the song has earned him a spot into the Zambezi Magic Zim Top charts.

In an interview, Tytan said his journey in the music industry so far has been eventful and fruitful.

He said he had achieved a lot behind the scenes through the management of artistes and that has helped him understand how the industry works.

“Being behind the scenes was an advantage for me because I got to analyse how things work in this industry. That has been much of a benefit because now as a musician I know how to manoeuvre my way through to a successful project,” he said.

Tytan said he was very happy with the way people are receiving the new video to the single Mukoko.

He said such a breakthrough was a relief, as it is very hard to penetrate the music industry let alone please every listener.

“I can’t even begin to explain how I feel right now. I can only say that it’s a fantastic feeling because it is hard to have a big break in Zimbabwe. We are not easy to please as Zimbabweans,” he said.

However, people have been confusing who the owner of the song is and most of them have identified the song to be Amara’s.

Congratulatory messages have been flooding on Ammara’s twitter account yet the song is actually Tytans’.

“Well, the song is a duet. It is an equal collaboration even though I came up with the song as well as the concept. It’s clearly labelled on the details of the song. I just think people will obviously lean towards who they are used to. It’s hard being new and collaborating with a very popular musician if you seek to stand out. Either way progress has been achieved,” said Tytan.

Tytan said the concept of the video Mukoko came of the fact that love exists everywhere in communities in all forms and in the simplest of ways. He said when one really is in love with someone and wants them in their life then they will try by all means to make them happy.

“Most times love is misunderstood yet it will be genuine. The Mukoko video therefore brings out the effort we make to show each other love against all odds,” he said.

Besides the single Mukoko, Tytan is working on another single called I Dondi Keya (I Don’t Care) and the release of his album titled Mukoko at the end of July. Tytan has worked with Cynthia Mare as well as Donald Kanyuchi.
