ANOTHER positive mark has been made by Nemane High School Cricket Club of Tsholotsho on their surge towards improving the game in the rural areas as one of their female players Simphiwe Moyo was selected for the national Under-17 team.

The wicket keeper was selected for the Zimbabwe Under-17 team rights at the end of the National Association of Secondary Heads cricket championships where she was representing Matabeleland North. Club coach Xolani Godswill Mumba, who is also the founder of the club said he was happy with the selection of their utility promising young player.

“First of its own kind, deep in the rural areas, it is very rare for players from this side to be selected for the national team and for that I would like to thank Moyo for lifting high the name of our club, as a coach I am very delighted because this shows us that we are improving,” he said.

Mumba gave credit to the girl for the hard work that she does during team sessions and for being a great example to the people of the province and the nation as a whole as he said, “Credit goes to the girl for she has been rewarded for all the hard work that she does during team sessions, she is a dedicated player whose mind is very open for learning new cricket skills.”

He went on to say, “Thanks to Moyo for being a great example to all the rising cricket players from the rural areas, she has shown them that only the sky can be the limit hence they must believe in the talent that they have and make great use of it.”

Nemane High School cricket club was started back in 2013 by Mumba who is also the director of the club. Its main aim is to improve rural cricket. Assistant coach Phindiwe Moyo said she was impressed by the development that has been made in the province by the club so far.
