ZIMBABWE international rugby player, Royal Mwale has signed a three-year agreement with Edach Budowlani Lublin Rugby Club in Poland.
Mwale arrived in Poland on Thursday from Kenya where he has been playing for Kabras Sugar Rugby Club since December last year. The front rower, who plays hooker as well as prop is now in coronavirus quarantine which means he will miss his team’s season opening fixture this weekend and will only join his teammates next week. Lublin play in Poland’s premier league, known as Ekstraliga.

“I got here yesterday (Thursday) so I will miss the first game of the season this weekend and play next week after my medicals,’’ Mwale said.
He is thrilled by his move to Poland and since he speaks a bit of that country’s language, Mwale feels it will not take him time to settle down.
“I’m excited and looking forward to it and I speak some Polish so I will settle in quite well, I’ve been here over a couple of Christmases, my girlfriend’s family is from the north of the country so I will be happy here,’’ he said.
Another Zimbabwe international rugby player, Martin Mangongo who plays in the backline is also in Poland on the books of Skra Warszawa, based in the Polish capital, Warsaw. Mwale and Mangongo are facing off against each other when their teams collide in three weeks’ time.
Mwale was part of Kabras team that was on top of the log in the Kenya Cup having won 14 of their 15 matches games before the league was cancelled due to Covid-19. Former Sables player, Mzingaye Nyathi is joining Kabras as their new head coach. Before heading off to Kenya, Mwale previously played club rugby in South Africa, Spain and Portugal.
