A BULAWAYO-based Seventh day Adventist choir from Nketa 9 has recorded a Covid-19 song aimed at encouraging people to persevere even during the hard times.

Ndlalifa recorded “Lingaphaphatheki” at Record @ Audio Factory studio in Gwabalanda and the track is due for release today. The choir’s treasurer, Mthabisi Mkhwananzi told Sunday Life in an interview that “Lingaphaphatheki” calls on nations to come together to fight the pandemic while giving praise to frontline health workers who have been working tirelessly to combat the virus.

“The song consists of four parts with the first being a rhetorical question on who will help the nations to cure the Covid-19 pandemic which seems to be eating the lives of people. In the second part we acknowledge and give gratitude to the health sector for trying their best in researching about Covid-19 and coming up with measures to control it. We really give them an applause for their works saying well done,” Mkhwananzi said.

The third section shows people that there is light at the end of tunnel no matter how hard the Covid-19 situation maybe with the fourth giving people hope that Jesus Christ is the one who will help the world to cure the pandemic.

The choral choir, formed in 2012 has two albums to their name with the first one titled Engalweni zikaJesu released in 2016 while the second one was recorded this year, titled “We have hope” and has eleven songs including “Lingaphaphatheki” being the hit song.

The choir is of 13 members Albert Kuwandira, Farai Kuwandira, Nesisa Bhebhe, Abedigo Ngulube, Alike Ncube, Nomvuselelo Ncube, Dorcas Mundondo, Praymore Dube, Mthabisi Mkhwananzi, Nokulunga Russels, Slindokuhle Ncube, Itai Musiniwa and Nokuthula Dube. The gospel choir seeks to bring hope to those who have lost their loved ones that there is Christ and one day they will meet in heaven.

“We want to give people who have lost their loved ones hope in the sense that death is not the end of our life, but there is life in Christ who has the keys to it, and He is the one who will arise the death in him in His second coming,” said Mthabisi Mkhwananzi.

The song was posted on Youtube and Facebook on 18 July.
