THE Above Ground Mining project has scheduled a one-week clean-up campaign which will be held together with the Junior Chamber International Bulawayo chapter.

The programme started on Friday and will run until 30 September. It will cover Bellevue Shopping Centre, Southwold shops, Nketa shops, Tshabalala shops, Makokoba, New Magwegwe bus terminus and Njube High School.

The clean-up campaign is being held in response to the global week of cleaning. Ishmael Mkandla, a member of the Junior Chamber International said they were inviting youths to participate in the programme.

“We want to promote a culture of cleanliness while creating awareness about the clean-up month. Most citizens are not aware that September is the month of clean up, therefore, through this campaign most people will know about the clean up month as well as cleanliness,” he said.

The organisation is going to work hand in hand with junior MPs who will be co-ordinating clean-up campaigns from their constituencies. The Bulawayo City Council and the Environment Management Agency will provide cleaning materials.
