The mystery of the Holy Communion

The Sunday News

Sunday Sermon, with Apostle Chisale
Greetings beloved nation in the name of Jesus Christ. We have come to a season where Christians all over the world are commemorating the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ in this month of April.

It is a very important month for the church of the Lord Jesus Christ as we remember that our Saviour Jesus Christ died for the whole world. It was through his suffering that he reconciled men to God by his death at the cross. Jesus taught his disciples the importance of taking Holy Communion.

We see in the scriptures that he took Holy Communion with his disciples the night he was going to be betrayed. He told his disciples to take Holy Communion in remembrance of him, meaning his death and his resurrection.

In John 6:53 we see Jesus speaking to his disciples saying unto them, “Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.” He was not talking about the disciples sucking his blood and eating his flesh but he was talking about the importance of partaking in Holy Communion. When we partake in Holy Communion the bible says we have life in us.

In verse 54 he says when we do this we shall have eternal life and shall be raised from the dead on the last day. In verse 56 he says we shall dwell in him and him in us. As we partake of Holy Communion we must have the understanding. Many Christians take Holy Communion religiously or as a ritual, that’s why it is not working for them.

Do you know when you are taking Holy Communion there are certain benefits of the blood of Jesus that are being released in a person’s life. You cannot take Holy Communion and remain sick or poor. The reason why we are not seeing the benefits of the blood of Jesus in our lives is because we have been taking Holy Communion religiously or as a ritual.

Did you know that Judas Iscariot’s intention was revealed at the table of the Holy Communion? The blood of Jesus can expose your spiritual enemies through the taking of Holy Communion. Many Christians think that Holy Communion is taken at church only.

You can take it even at home with your family, after prayer and fasting or when you are dealing with certain stubborn situations. Remember Jesus said we should take this all the time, meaning we cannot wait for the pastor or Easter Sunday to take Holy Communion.

This a command that Jesus gave to us. In 1 Corinthians 11 we see Apostle Paul talking to the Corinthians in verse 26 where he says, “For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.” So the Holy Communion is taken often.

The bible says we show the Lord’s death until he comes. In verse 27 we are told that as we partake in this Holy Communion we should not do it unworthily because we shall be guilty of the body and the blood of Jesus. We need to confess our sins before we partake of Holy Communion. Paul speaks about how a man must examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.

In verse 29 says those who partake in unworthy manner drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. We see in the church of Corinth in verse 30 that many were weak, died or sick because they took this cup and bread without understanding and with the wrong attitude. As a result the blood of Jesus judged them.

We see how powerful the ministry of the Holy Communion is. In it there are hidden secrets that we need to know as a body of Christ that bring benefits in the life of a believer. We see in the church of Corinth that because they had no understanding on the mystery of the Holy Communion they had to be judged because they mistreated or handled Holy Communion religiously.

We can see this is deep, so we should place a value on Holy Communion and not disrespect what Jesus commended. Remember in Revelations 12:11 it was the blood of Jesus that overcame Satan in heaven and the bible says he, Satan, could not find his place in heaven. In 1Corinthians 10:16 Paul speaks about Holy Communion as a cup of blessing, meaning that when we drink the cup we are drinking the blessing of the Lord Jesus Christ, infusing the DNA of God.

I want to invite those who are not born again to come to Jesus, accept Him as your personal Lord and Saviour. May the Lord God bless our beloved nation Zimbabwe. Amen.
