UP-AND-COMING Bulawayo songstress Linda Nyauchi, popularly known as Lee McHoney’s star is fast rising, as she recently earned recognition from Military Touch Movement boss Jah Prayzah.

McHoney, whose musical story began this year, told Sunday Life in an interview that she was working on several collaborations with MTM and one of Zimbabwe’s sought-after video directors Bulawayo’s own Vusa Blaqs.

“I’m mostly working with Vusa Blaqs, he is under military touch movement . . . it’s a bit complicated but I’m there,” she said.

McHoney recently released her debut album — Wakandinyepera, which features the likes of “that Luveve Boy” Cal_Vin.

Over the past few weeks she has been posting pictures and live stream videos of herself and projects to grow and perhaps get closer to her fans.

“As an artiste I need to be in touch with my fans. I need to know what they think of me, what they want and also for them to be in touch with me,” she said.

Probably one of the hottest female musicians to emerge from the City of Kings at present, McHoney has on several occasions mentioned that her style and music is greatly influenced by musicians such as America’s Jhene Aiko, Ammara Brown and the late Chiwoniso Maraire.

Her debut project consists of six tracks and was locally produced.

“It’s basically a compilation of love songs, inspired by love and hurt. The instrumentals were done at Octopus Sound Lab, while the vocals and mixing were done at Volte Face Records,” she said.

McHoney, a computer engineer by profession, launched her album this year at Groove Nightclub, housed at Rainbow Hotel.

“I am working on several projects right now in Harare, all the projects will be revealed in time,” she said.

McHoney fuses her own style with that of her inspirational predecessors.

“I adore those musical queens’ styles and I want to fuse what I have picked up from them. I ventured into the music industry in 2016 and I have collaborated with a few popular names in the music industry. Right now its all coming together and I just thank the Almighty for getting me here,” she said.

Lee McHoney has so far only had a single live performance but hopes to have an opportunity to have more live performances.
