AN Emakhandeni woman was found dead in a bush which is a couple of metres from her house in a suspected case of revenge rape and murder.

Confirming the incident Bulawayo Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Precious Simango said they were investigating a case of murder and rape, revealing that the dead woman, Ms Assah Dube had bruises on her neck and her panties had been ripped off.

“For now we are awaiting the results of a post mortem so as to assist our investigations,” said Insp Simango.

According to a witness who found Ms Dube’s body- Mr Nkululeko Moyo, he revealed that he was on his morning stroll when he saw a leg sticking out of the ditch.

“When I moved closer I realised that it was Ms Dube who stays a few houses from where I stay. I personally think the police should look at some groupings in the suburb who have been attempting to evict her from their family house because of their son Xolani who is said to be gay,” said Mr Moyo.

Investigations by this publication revealed that Ms Dube is the mother of Mr Xolani Ncube, the founder and chairman of Bulawayo based Dubies gays and lesbians, rights fighters (DGLRF), an organisation that has previously had run ins with members of the public and the law.

Mr Ncube is currently on a warrant of arrest after he failed to make a routine remand appearance at the Bulawayo magistrate’s court. He was being accused of leading the group and constantly holding illegal demonstrations advocating for LGBT rights.

He also had a public bust up with members of the Emakhandeni Resdients Association after they besieged their house attempting to evict them from the house, accusing them of misleading their children by encouraging them to be either gays or lesbians.

A couple of days ago a supermarket owned by the family also went up in smoke in a suspected case of arson.

Gays and lesbianism in the country is largely viewed with a cringed eye with President Mugabe equating them to dogs.
