THE Zanu-PF campaign to reclaim the Nkulumane Parliamentary seat in the forthcoming by-elections has gone into overdrive with eight rallies set to be held simultaneously in the constituency tomorrow.
The rallies will be addressed by the four elected members of Parliament in Bulawayo namely, Cdes Godfrey Malaba (Pumula), Joseph Tshuma (Pelandaba-Mpopoma), Ntandoyenkosi Mlilo (Luveve), Maidei Mpala (Lobengula) and the Nkulumane candidate Cde Killian Sibanda as well as Zanu-PF Politburo and Central Committee members. Cde Tshinga Dube, the MP for Makokoba, has been excused as he will be in Harare.
The rallies would be followed by a door-to-door campaign which will start on Saturday where 900 party supporters who have been divided into groups of 300 per each of the three wards will flood the constituency. Roadshows have also been lined up to be conducted at every shopping centre in the constituency during the week where about 10 000 flyers and over 3 000 campaign DVDs are going to be distributed.
Addressing party supporters at an Area 4 meeting in Nkulumane yesterday, Cde Sibanda said they were going to campaign vigorously to re-claim the seat and urged party supporters to be united.
“You know we were in primary elections which divided our people because we were campaigning for different candidates to represent the party. Now that the primary elections are over let’s be united and work for the party and campaign vigorously so that we win the seat,” said Cde Sibanda.
He said when he gets into power he will work with every member of the constituency for the development of the area.
The Nkulumane seat fell vacant after the death of MDC-T legislator Thamsanqa Mahlangu two months ago.
