ZIMFIRST aspiring Member of Parliament for Luveve in Bulawayo has promised to initiate community driven programmes to allow people in the area to be actively involved in projects that improve their lives.
Mr Bekezela Moyo said once communities are involved, they take ownership of developmental programmes unlike the case where development is fostered on people without their input.
“People should be given an equal chance in decision making. They ought to be given a platform to come up with ideas and suggestions that will help develop the communities,” said Mr Moyo.
He said most MPs have a tendency of disappearing from the people once they are elected. If elected he vowed to change that.
Mr Moyo who holds an Honours Degree in Computer Science from the National University of Science and Technology added that he intended to also use his skills to establish ICT centres within the communities.
“My contribution at my workplace where I have taken up the role of being an IT specialist has been astounding. Thus I feel it is time now to share my talents with the local schools for the benefit of pupils,” he said.
His main priority will be to spearhead development in Cowdray Park with focus on roads, water and sewer reticulation.
“Some roads in Cowdray Park are worse than paths in rural areas. In this day and age, we cannot have people in town still using the bush as toilets.
“Those who are in leadership are not doing anything about that so we need to change that,” he said.
