TWO suspected sex workers recently labelled their grandmother a witch, beat her up and later evicted her from her own house in Mpopoma, forcing the octogenarian to seek refuge from neighbours. This emerged when the granny, Ettar Nkiwane (80), appeared before Ms Evelyn Mashavakure seeking an eviction order for her two granddaughters Thobekile Skhosana (26) and Belinda Skhosana (22).
She alleged the two were tormenting her in her own house.

Nkiwane said her grandchildren started sex work in 2012 and when they come home from their business they usually beat her, calling her names and accusing her of bewitching them.

“Your worship, I have tried to be patient with them from 2012 but l have had enough with my grandchildren. On Monday I slept next door after they beat me up and chased me away,” said Nkiwane.

“They even bring their clients to the house sometimes and they have sex there. I will be sleeping in the next room and I hear them scream during their love making.”

Nkiwane said she was heartbroken because she loved her grandchildren dearly and never wanted them to seek alternative accommodation but she could not take the abuse any longer.

“I am applying for an eviction order plus a protection order that will stop them from verbally and physically abusing me,” said Nkiwane.
She said the two had now reduced her to a house maid as she slaves around doing all the household chores while they do nothing the whole day and pamper themselves for prospective clients.

Nkiwane told the court that her granddaughters had refused to come to court, saying they wanted to sleep.
Ms Mashavakure asked her if she was willing to go for counselling with her granddaughters but she refused.

She ordered Nkiwane’s grandchildren to move out of her house with immediate effect and granted her a protection order that barred them from verbally and physically abusing her.
