All set for the Three Hour Endurance race

THE organiser for the Three Hour Endurance race, Leonora Young said preparations for the event that will be held in two weeks at the Bulawayo Motorsport Park have reached an advanced stage.

Pencilled in for 9 December, the race has attracted riders from South Africa, Botswana and UK, who have confirmed their participation in the biggest event of the calendar in motorsport in the land.

Speaking to Sunday Life Sport Young said they were doing their final touches on and off the racing track for the event.

“We are busy cleaning up the white tracks and all the areas around the track so the public and spectators can view. Registration for the event will close on the 25 November,” she said. The Bulawayo Motoring Club chairman Stuart Young said they are ready for event. Young said 55 participants are expected at this year’s edition.

The motorcycles will take centre stage at 12:45 to 13:45 before the motorsport enthusiasts enjoy a Three Hour Endurance which will begin 3PM until 6PM. The BMC extended their gratitude to its main sponsors, Toyota Zimbabwe and Castrol Zimbabwe who have supported the event for many years, have continued to enjoyed great working relations.

Last year’ winner of the Three Hour Endurance race, Zimbabwe’s Wayne Jardine, driving Shelby Can Am, powered by a Nissan V6, 3,5litre engine, will hope to defend his title at this year’s event.

Bulawayo-based driver, Darren Winterboer, currently the overall national champion is one of favourites to clinch the racing title, after previously having a record of winning the race six times and South African rider Savannah Woodward who is well known in the country will give the riders a run for their money in the motorcycle One Hour Endurance race.

The well known names in the circuit such as Denzil Bhana, Darren Pragji, Bob Beaver and Stuart Young, will be there to outdo the competition.
