Bafana Bafana were held to a 2-2 draw by Cameroon in their 2017 Afcon qualifier yesterday. Tokelo Rantie opened the scoring in the 17th minute before Sebastien Siani brought the hosts level with a cracker on the stroke of halftime.

The Bournemouth striker, who was put through by Andile Jali, rounded off the keeper to put the visitors ahead.

Hlompho Kekana’s wonder goal restored the lead for South Africa five minutes into the second half. The Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder caught the keeper off guard with a long range strike from his own half.

Cameroon found the equaliser again through defender Nicolas Nkoulou, who beat Itumeleng Khune with a header from a set piece.

There was more drama in the dying minutes as the teams pushed for a winner. Thulani Hlatshwayo saved Bafana from defeat when he acrobatically cleared the ball from the goal line.

Moments later, Thulani Serero thought he had won a penalty but the referee waved play on and subsequently blew the final whistle.

Bafana remain without a win after three matches having lost to Mauritania and drawing with Gambia.
