HIGHLANDERS will not be making any moves on players left clubless after fellow Premiership side How Mine folded just days before the start of the new season.

The unexpected demise of How Mine has given other teams an opportunity to make bids for its top performers and Bosso being a team of choice for most players in the southern region and across the country was largely expected to lead the race to improve on its weaknesses.

A number of Highlanders supporters interviewed by Sunday News Sport are of the view that the club which last tasted the championship in 2006 under the tutelage of its former son Methembe Ndlovu should fuse their squad of youngsters with seasoned campaigners from How Mine.

Players of note that would easily make the cut in any team in the Premiership are the Zambian defensive midfielder Mukundika Sakala, the versatile Milton Ncube, Kudakwashe “Mashefu” Musharu, Peter “Rio” Moyo and young attacking midfielder Adolf Muganyi.

“Of course we are fully behind Madinda’s (Ndlovu) ideology of building the team around youngsters but I think the team will hold its own if there is a gunman and Musharu was going to be the best bet. Madinda should be wary that winning matches is also important because he might become unpopular if results elude him,” said a staunch supporter Boniface Ndlovu popularly known as Ndlovini.

Bosso’s self styled number one supporter Duduzo “Teekay” Sibanda said although roping in new players has over the years proved costly as they tend to give the club problems in the event it failures to meet its contractual agreements, it was prudent for the coach to consider Ncube.

“I personally don’t like old players that come to the club because they have given us nightmares over the years upon failing to meet some terms in their contracts but I feel we can really do with Milton (Ncube) in our side. He is one of the most talented players in the land who can play in virtually all positions,” said Teekay.

Another fanatic Prince Dube of Filabusi said Bosso could make use of Ncube and Musharu.

“The team looks a bit solid but I think we can do with Milton and Musharu. Musharu has a knack for scoring and I believe judging from the match against Dynamos we need a striker of his nature,” said Dube.

In the past Bosso has profited from the demise of its neighbours to come up with a powerful squad that went on the dominate the league. When the now defunct Eagles was on the verge of collapse, Highlanders took advantage of its dying neighbour and recruited players that went on shine at both Bosso and the Warriors such as Rahman Gumbo, Boy Ndlovu, Simon Ncube, Tanny Banda and Lazarus Mwambopo. They also did the same with Olympics by bringing on board Tito Paketh, Amini Soma-Phiri and Tobias Mudyambanje. —@Nsingo
