FOUR of Bulawayo’s suburbs are remaining in the Highlanders Kasi Pride Battle, a competition that is running on micro blogging social network Twitter which is now heading to the semifinals on Tuesday.

Mzilikazi, Nkulumane, Luveve and Magwegwe are the in the semifinals following the conclusion of the quarterfinals whose results were released on Sunday. In the quarterfinals, Mzilikazi had more votes than Gwabalanda, Magwegwe got the better of Cowdray Park, Nkulumane garnered more votes than Entumbane while Luveve was more popular than Makokoba.

Ronald Moyo, the Highlanders media and communications officer said the last-four battle is taking place on Tuesday with the outcomes to be known on Wednesday. From there, the final will start on Friday with the winner to be crowned the next day. The level of participation for the quarterfinals was high, with an average of 300 votes in each of the four contests. A total of 378 votes were recorded for the battle between Magwegwe and Cowdray Park. From those, Magwegwe got 54 percent while 46 of the votes were for Cowdray Park.

“The semifinals are taking place on Tuesday, we are looking forward to the final on Friday and end on Saturday. We are happy, we are seeing the number of participants has actually increased, on average we were getting over 300 votes for each battle which is actually a positive, you can actually see that the number of participants rose by more than 100 percent compared to the second round, which is a positive,’’ Moyo said.

Moyo is impressed that the Bosso supporters are getting to connect more with the club on social media.

“We are happy as a club that the fans are actually interacting with the brand, they are interacting with our partners which is what we want at the end of the day. When we are talking about partnerships, what we want to give to our partners is that brand value, we are happy that we are seeing that actually happening,’’ he said.

Bosso have partnered with Arenel, which saw some of those who took part in the voting announced as winners of prizes from the diversified food processing company. For one to win a prize, they have to cast their vote then post a selfie of themselves holding an Arenel product.

Last season, Arenel sponsored the Highlanders first team with their Hydro Boost mineral water for training and match days with indications the two organisations might be working on a bigger joint venture for the future.
