THE New Year is always a great time for new beginnings, a time to look at the past year, see where we went wrong and perhaps try to correct some things. The beginning of the year brings the promise of new possibilities and a time for all to come up with resolutions for the year. Our celebrities are no different and Sunday Life managed to get some of our favourite public personalities to share their resolutions for the year 2017.

Arthur Evans (Talk Show Host and MC): 2017 is about discipline, redefining my daily routine, getting complementary skills, developing strong networks, looking up to God and coming up with more productions.

AWA (Rapper and Activist): To make the most of what I have in life and in my music career. Sometimes we delay success by waiting for blessings instead of working with what we have to get to where we want to be.

Butholezwe Nyathi (Creative Entrepreneur and Arts Administrator): I am personally exploring options to pursue post-graduate studies in arts management as I believe professional management of the arts is what will grow the creative industry. We are keen as Amagugu International Heritage Centre to facilitate identification, nurturing and promotion of rural-based artistes into the mainstream performance arts arena. We are in this regard conceptualising an ideal platform for sustainable promotion of rural-based artistic talent.

Cal_vin

Cal_Vin (Rapper and Music Producer): 2017 is basically about solidifying my independence. I want to be more independent when it comes to my craft. I will be doing things in my own name and on my own terms. Also, I will be going on different tours this year, so that is something to look forward to.

Gilmore Tee (Public Relations Consultant and Fashion Practitioner): This coming year will be filled with lots of actions and pregnancies being birthed. 2016 for me was a year of putting things in shape and also reaching out to those I would like to work with in the coming year and years ahead. I do not usually list resolutions but I have an ultimate goal which is to move right ahead with hard work and keeping level headed.

Jeys Marabini-silo

Jeys Marabini (Musician): 2017 is all about the music. We are working on a new album. Also there are going to be more shows.

Oliver Keith: (Model and Social Commentator): My New Year resolutions are basically to become better in all endeavours.

Firstly I want to improve the quality of my family life, to be better as a person and to be an accommodative and more understanding individual. My greatest resolution is to help make my society a better place through my charity initiatives such as supporting the girl child.

Patience Phiri (Radio Personality and Creative Entrepreneur): My resolutions for the year are for Bulawayo to rise up and take its place as the industrial capital of Zimbabwe. For better fortunes not just for myself but everyone who is out there working hard. I wouldn’t mind more jobs (brand ambassador things) and some awards and a lot of travelling. Finally for Skyz Metro FM to grow bigger and better with the support of the corporate sector.

Raisedon Baya (Arts Critic, Columnist, and Theatre and Television Producer): We might be entering another tough year, my first and most important resolution is to stay afloat. To survive. My other resolutions are to produce quality work that will push the arts to another level and keep young artistes employed. My last resolution is to continue advocating for the proper recognition of the arts, in schools and the community at large

Sandra Ndebele-Sibindi (Musician and Businesswoman): I will be recording my eighth album. I did not do much in terms of the arts in 2016 so in 2017, I will be back on stage full time and I will be one hundred percent back in the arts.

Shadel Noble (Model and Basketball Coach): My New Year resolutions will be to put more effort and work harder, be more confident in myself, to create opportunities by meeting more people and travelling as much as possible. I also hope to participate in local and international events, representing my country to the best of my ability while at the same time encouraging young models to further their careers.
