A BULAWAYO-BASED organisation Consecrated Work Trust donated an assortment of goods worth over $1 000 to vulnerable children, orphans and widows yesterday.

Consecrated Work Trust was formed last year and this is the first activity which seeks to provide cycle social support to widows, orphans and vulnerable children by meeting their physical and spiritual needs and also equipping them with life skills to break the cycle of poverty.

In an interview with Sunday News, the director of Consecrated Work Trust under Divine Kingdom Baptist Ministries Mrs Angel Ndlovu, said they got a list from Childline alerting them about children who needed school fees.

“As an organisation our motto is joining hands to better our communities hence we saw it as our duty to extend our hands to the needy and donate a few groceries. We have mobilised people from our church and allocated 20 families which will each receive food packs consisting of 20kg mealie-meal, 2 litres cooking oil, 2kg sugar, 1kg salt, 500g of soya beans, 500g chunks, 1 green bar soap, and a packet of tea leaves which will be given to twenty families. We are also planning to establish a uniforms making programme in order to capacitate our widows with this programme so that they elevate and generate some money to help them and break down the dependency syndrome,” said Ndlovu.

Speaking on behalf of other widows, Miss Christina Dube from  Nkulumane, showed her gratitude to this organisation.

“We are grateful for the help we just got from the Consecrated Work Trust and may the Lord bless their work and increase from where it came from as they are doing a remarkable job. This is an amazing feeling to know your family is well fed and there is still hope to become independent even without a life partner to support you,” said Dube.
