BULAWAYO-BORN and award-winning actor Daniel Lusker (19) wants to leave a mark in the entertainment industry after landing a lead character in a film called The Telling Room.

Lusker, born and raised in Bulawayo, is a former head boy of Petra High School. He was elated with the role he was given in the new film.

“I am speechless and still can’t get my head around it. It’s a huge achievement for me,” he said.

The teenager said The Telling Room is a first- ever epic fantasy feature film to have been shot in Zimbabwe.

“I can say this film is the first-ever fantasy film to have been filmed in Zimbabwe, it took us one year to shoot it and now it is under post-production process and what is more special about is that its music was composed in America and the visual effects being rendered.”

He further said the film is expected to be released in cinemas next year and it was done by a new film production company in Zimbabwe called Mudbug Films.

“I have been passionate about acting and filming. I started making my own films when I was 16 years and what is more fascinating is that I taught myself from books and YouTube,” said Daniel.

At the age of 17 his works started to get recognised.

“At the age of 17 my second short film, The Walk won different awards at festivals around the world in Europe and America. I also won the Best Adventure Film and the New York Independent Film Awards and I was the first-ever Zimbabwean to win that award and currently there are some projects that are still in the pipeline I will share them to everyone soon,” said Lusker.
