AS more promoters realise the untapped value that lies in family friendly daytime shows, Bulawayo is set to get a taste of top-notch deep house music, when South African hotshot producer Sun El Musician performs his first solo gig in the City of Kings on 5 November at Busters Sports Field.

Night time gigs featuring heavyweight performers from South Africa are a rarity in the City of Kings, as promoters usually seek to maximise on their profits from alcohol sales and other services served during long nights of partying.

With Sun-El being one of the premier acts in Mzansi, many would have thought that this would be the case again, given the fact that other much sought-after acts such as the Scorpion Kings managed to attract big crowds during night-time shows held in the city recently.

However, Fife Street Events and Nova Inflatables seem set to buck that trend with a family friendly event that is not only set to give house music lovers a taste of some of the finest cuts from Sun El’s acclaimed albums but also present some of the city’s best wheel spinners a chance to rub shoulders with the South African virtuoso.

Some of the acts that are set to perform include Rebellious Suhnz, Reno Life and Ryan Synth. The gig kicks off at 12 noon.

In an interview, one of the organisers of the gig, Fife Street Event’s Junior Mbanje, said that emphasis for the gig, dubbed Fun in the Sun, was giving revellers a wholesome entertainment experience within a family-friendly environment.

“It has been a while since we have had a high profile show in the afternoon and that is something that we want to promote again starting with this event.

It is important to know that a lot of people have families and they really cannot come out at night to witness shows that finish well after midnight.

This is despite the fact that many would have a burning desire to watch an artiste who they are most likely a fan of. So, such shows are a way for us to embrace an audience that is usually left out by us as promoters as we host shows in the city,” he said.
