FEELING beautiful and sexy can be difficult if you do not have healthy-looking skin. Some women are blessed with smooth leathery type of skin, while some struggle with blemishes and blackheads. Good-looking skin is every woman’s wish; clean, smooth spot-free skin is what we all want. Most women resort to wearing layers of make-up which is a temporary solution as the make-up will come off eventually.

Good skin care and healthy life choices will help delay the natural process and prevent various skin problems. With the following tips you won’t get results overnight but it will be worth it.

Drink water — hydrate yourself. Drink lots of water daily, at least eight glasses if not more (not at once). Water naturally hydrates your skin. Do eat fruits and vegetables that have high water content such as oranges, grapefruits, cucumbers and strawberries. Apparently drinking water from a blue bottle has a cooling effect.

Eat healthy — a healthy diet will always help you look and feel your best. Some research suggests that a diet rich in vitamin C and low in unhealthy fats might promote younger-looking skin. Consider low sugar diet, which can keep insulin levels down, allowing cells to maintain a healthy balance.

Treat your skin with care — use warm water on your skin, avoid hot water. Hot water removes oils from the skin. Avoid strong soaps and detergents they as well strip oil from your skin. Make sure you always remove make-up before bedtime. The skin needs to breathe overnight. By leaving your make-up overnight it clogs the pores which causes blemishes and/or blackheads.

If you do not have make-up remover, use olive oil and cotton wool and gently massage the oil onto your face to remove make-up and dirt.

Do exfoliate your skin once or twice a week in order to remove layers of dead skin. This will leave you with a more healthy glow and brighter skin. Give yourself a gentle massage with oils. Depending on your skin type, choose oils from mustard, coconut and almond, this will give you glowing skin.

Do not pop pimples because it could lead to swelling, scarring and redness. If you feel like you are developing a pimple, place a chilled green tea bag for 10 minutes or rose water.

Do not stress — too much stress can make your skin more sensitive and trigger acne breakouts and other skin problems.

Managing stress and a healthy state of mind will encourage healthy skin. Instead of stressing do exercise regularly. Running, jogging and going to the gym will give your body necessary blood circulation and also accelerate the cleansing process of your entire body.

Get enough rest — try to sleep at least eight hours every night. If you don’t get enough rest, your skin gets tired, it will sag and gets baggy. Apply honey on your face twice or thrice a week to naturally soothe and heal your skin.

Protect your skin from the sun — exposure to the sun over the years may result in wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems as well as risk of skin cancer. If you love wearing shades, clean them frequently to keep oil form clogging your pores. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing.

Get healthy smooth skin.
