GODLWAYO South Soccer League (GSSL) sponsors MMM have decided to chip in to assist Filabusi United, a team that will be playing in the Zifa Central Division One this season.

Bulawayo businessman Bhekimpilo Maranda Sithole, the South Africa-domiciled duo of Kossam Mavuna Ndlovu and Zibusiso Majankwe Ncube, the bankrollers of the GSSL made a decision to come to the aid of Filabusi United.

A donation from MMM was handed over to Filabusi United chief executive officer, Mkhululi Mthunzi in Bulawayo last Thursday prior to the team’s official launch yesterday. Sithole said they came to a decision to sponsor Filabusi United after they realised that the team is in a dire situation with no training kit.

MMM handed over to Mthunzi a consignment made up of 30 trainings bibs, groceries like water, cooking oil, rice and other foodstuffs that should assist Filabusi United as they prepare to make their maiden appearance in the Zifa Central Region Division One League, which starts at the end of this month.

Sithole revealed plans to set up a gym in Filabusi for the team to use as they seek to make a huge impression in their maiden dance in the Zifa Central Region Division One.

“Having watched our homeboys at training there was no training kit. Some had even removed their shirts so we thought as MMM we should rescue them from this situation. We need a proper training kit, we want to bring even a gym to Filabusi to help these guys,’’ Sithole said.

So far, Filabusi United have signed two players from the GSSL, these being Brainos Moyo from Dekezi and Dumoenkosini Ndlovu of Mbembesi.

Filabusi United earned a ticket to play in the Zifa Central Region Division One when they finished second in the Zifa Matabeleland South Division Two Pool A, which was won by The Venue from Matobo district.

The Saul Ndlovu-coached Filabusi United have brought so might excitement to their community, with hopes that the club will bring Premiership football to the gold rich area by winning the Central Region Division One League in their maiden season.
