Firms donate to Midlands Covid-19 fight Minister Larry Mavima

MIDLANDS Province has received donations worth $4,6 million in addition of medical equipment worth R10 million and US$15 000 from the corporate world and well-wishers to assist in the fight against coronavirus (Covid-19).

The Midlands Provincial Taskforce recently announced that the province required US$12 million for it to be fully equipped to fight Covid-19.

Addressing the Provincial taskforce in Midlands on Thursday, Minister of State for Midlands Provincial Affairs Cde Larry Mavima said the donations that had so far come through from the corporate world amounted to $4,6 million while Unki Mine had donated medical equipment that include ventilators and helped refurbish two wards at Gweru Provincial Hospital at a total cost of R10 million.

Cde Mavima said Mimosa Mine in Zvishavane had also committed itself to refurbish Gweru Isolation Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Ascot.

The Midlands Provincial Taskforce also received donations worth more than $500 000 from Zambezi Bulk, three boreholes, sanitisers worth $450 000, face masks from Midlands State University and 100 litres of sanitisers from Sable Chemicals.
