AUSTRALIA-BASED budding songstress, Fortune Ruzvidzo’s star continues to shine with her next public appearance scheduled for the illustrious Mega Fest Conference in the US next month.

Megafest runs from 19 to 23 August.

The rookie gospel songwriter will be part of the Brisbane City Gospel Choir (BCGC) that will participate in the international gospel choir showcase competition that runs along with the five-day event.

Zimpraise will also be part of the competition that draws 12 choirs from around the globe.

“I’m so excited, God has opened yet another door,” she told Sunday Leisure.

This comes barely two months after she released her maiden single Salvation, Glory and Power.

A fortnight ago, Ruzvidzo and some of the BCGC members were on two Australian television stations – Channel 9 and Sunrise TV.

“All I can say is ‘all honour to Him who makes things possible’,” she said.

But it is the Mega Fest performance that she is thoroughly preparing for.

Mega Fest is an annual conference hosted by popular televangelist Bishop Thomas Dexter Jakes’ Potter’s Touch.

Ruzvidzo is overly elated that she will sit and listen to some of the world’s most acclaimed ministers of the gospel at Mega Fest.

Meanwhile, the budding artiste is using her musical skills towards a project aimed at building libraries in rural schools in Zimbabwe.

“It has been a great honour to do this,” said the Lupane-born muso.

She is working alongside the likes of Charles Charamba and Leonard Zhakata towards an album aimed at encouraging reading and use of libraries. The project is being run by a non-profit organisation.

She explained: “The intention of the album is to highlight the importance of reading and use of libraries and cash raised will go towards building libraries for selected rural schools.”

Her music career took its wings in May with the launch of her single and that of BCGC where she was lead singer. Her single continues to get rave reviews on online platforms.

The Brisbane-based artiste had all her CDs sold out barely a week after the launch.

The 22-year-old songwriter has done several BCGC concerts that include Harvest House International Church’s Christmas at Dutton Park, the Easterfest, a yearly Easter festival in Queensland, Blues on Broadbeach, a yearly concert in the Gold Coast, and various weddings.

Her desire is to spread Holy Spirit filled worship music to the church and to the world.

“I would like to bring a new sound. A sound that doesn’t leave people thinking “oh that’s good music” but a sound that leaves people in awe of God’s love and grace, a sound that draws people to that secret place of worship and mostly a sound that changes people inside out,” Ruzvidzo said after her single launch in May.

She started singing at a tender age in primary school and was in the choir for three years in high school.

“My dad says I started singing at age seven. I remember officially singing at Amakhosi Theatre at about age nine,” she recalls.

Ruzvidzo, has written over 30 songs to date, and intends to release an album in the near future.
