HWANGE FC had to shed gallons of sweat as they laboured to prevail over stubborn league debutants NRZ Leopards in a Zifa Southern Region Division One league match played before a huge crowd at Ngotsheni Ground yesterday in Dete.

The miners trailed for a hefty 68 minutes after falling behind to a glancing Innocent Kaunda header in the 22nd minute.

Veteran striker Gilbert Zulu scored the equaliser from the penalty spot 22 minutes from time jolting the travelling and stunned Hwange fans back to life.

A wonderful goal by Shepherd Gadzikwa, who latched onto a clever flick by substitute Tendai Mate, nine minutes from time, gave Hwange the much needed points.

However, Chipangano will have to up their tempo if they are to make a quick return to the elite league as yesterday’s scrappy win came on the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw with another new team Moto Moto in Hwange.
