DYNAMOS defender Kelvin Moyo has set his sights on making the squad for the Warriors World Cup Qualifiers in June.

Moyo was part of the Warriors squad, which took part in the Four Nations Invitational Tournament played in Malawi last month.

Though he did not see any action, Moyo says he will put in the work for his club to earn a starting place in the national team.

“The Malawi tournament was a good experience for me. We had the bulk of the squad being foreign based players and it was good to share ideas with some of these guys who were in Africa for the first time and it was quite an exciting experience. I think the team did well and we have to build on that going into the World Cup Qualifiers,” said Moyo.

He hopes to be part of Zimbabwe’s qualifying campaign.

“I have started my season well with Dynamos. I scored my first goal last week and it is my hope that l also contribute to the team with more goals. Obviously, l have to work extra hard to make sure l earn a place in the team,” said Moyo.

In the local league, Dynamos are now playing their home games at Rufaro Stadium, a development Moyo feels is hugely beneficial for the team.

“Of course, there is pressure when you play at Rufaro because the demanding crowd is closer to the action, but that can also work to our advantage. We have more fans rallying behind us at Rufaro and we should use that to our advantage,” said Moyo.

The Warriors will have to secure a stadium in a foreign country as their home ground when the 2026 Fifa World Cup Qualifiers Group C matches recommence in June this year. The Warriors hosted Nigeria in their first home game in Rwanda last November, after CAF deemed all the local stadiums not fit to host international matches.

The Warriors will face Lesotho and South Africa in their next World Cup Qualifier amid indications that little progress has been made on renovating the available stadiums thus far.

He and his twin brother Elvis turned 31 last week on Wednesday.
