COPA Coca-Cola Bulawayo defending champions, Lobengula for boys as well as Mpopoma for girls will look to defend their titles at the provincial finals slated for Gifford High School on Friday.

Lobengula and Mpopoma were last year crowned champions at the same venue last year, which earned them the ticket to represent Bulawayo at the national finals held in Bindura. Both schools, however, failed to make an impression at the national competition. Mpopoma bowed out at the group stage while Lobengula went as far as  the quarter-finals where they were booted out.

Lobengula will play against Gifford, Sobukhazi, Mpopoma, St Bernard’s and Christian Brothers’ College in a round robin with the team finishing with the most number of points guaranteed of the sole ticket to represent Bulawayo at the national tournament to be held in Zvishavane from 12 to 14 July.

For the girls, they will also play a round robin with the team on top of the log at the end of the day earning the right to represent Bulawayo at the national event. Mpopoma will face Sobukhazi, Magwegwe, Tennyson Hlabangana, Pumula and Townsend.
