BULAWAYO born MC Nashie (real name Tinashe Maravanyika) recently made claims about his move to South Africa, accusing the media in Bulawayo of not appreciating his musical role in the city.

The Kuchibhorane hit maker spoke to Sunday Life from his new base in South Africa, where he revealed he was fed up of being portrayed as a bad person.

“I am no longer a Bulawayo artiste. I tried to do a lot of music projects in Bulawayo in a bid to raise the city’s flag but my efforts went in vain. Of all the good music projects that I did the media failed to mention but decided to slaughter me. Instead the media hit me left, right and centre for the little positive things that I did,” he said.

At one point, he was accused of faking his own death. The death hoax, which was said to be part of his alleged efforts to market his forthcoming album saw the artiste, through his girlfriend, communicating to friends that he had died in a car accident while travelling to Gweru.

As if that was not enough, the young musician was later on accused of spreading HIV rumours to tarnish the image of his music rival MK aka Methembe Kelvin Dube.

“For the record I left Bulawayo because of the media. There hasn’t been a good story on me from the media to the extent that I couldn’t stand it anymore,” he said.

Nashie refused to name his exact location in South Africa, stating that it would be another negative story.

“No I won’t tell you where I am based, you just want to write more bad stories about me,” he said.
