THE Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) and the Belarus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BICC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which is expected to unlock investment and trade opportunities existing between the two countries.
The MoU, which was signed at a Zimbabwe-Belarus Business Networking Forum held in Bulawayo last Thursday, also goes a long way in fortifying the existing bilateral relations between the two nations.
Speaking after the signing ceremony Belarus Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Alexander Sidoruk said the co-operation between ZNCC and BICC was pivotal towards enabling the organisations to identify viable investment and export opportunities among the two countries.
“We should not only regard each other as international partners but as the gateways to the huge markets of the Eurasia Economic Union in our region and the Southern Africa Development Community here in your region,” he said.
Mr Sidoruk said the Belarusian business delegation that attended the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair was on a mission to identify local investment partners for the implementation of joint ventures.
He further said that Belarus was committed to assist Zimbabwe to improve its vital economic sectors.
“We are proposing to our Zimbabwean friends to concentrate more on co-operation in automotive, agricultural and mining sectors by using a wide range of machinery and equipment which they can use for the development of the crucial sectors of the Zimbabwean economy,” said Mr Sidoruk.
