TRIBAL house outfit, Mutual Frandz who shot into the scene with their much-loved jam and video Mawulu Ulikoshede have signed a distribution deal with United Kingdom-based Live a Little Records and are set to release an album before they embark on a national tour. The national tour, they said would be to acquaint themselves with their fans as well as market their brand.

Comprising Mabhoroz (Tinotenda Ncube), Cash (Leroy Msipa) and Maan Roots (Muhle Maphula), the group has been mostly known for their unique Afro Dance, Tribal and melodic drum oriented sound.

Their high energy performances and knack for producing hit tracks have earned them respect among their peers and a good following from listeners from Zimbabwe, South Africa and Botswana.

“One of the major activities among the many we have been on include the final touches which we have been putting on our highly-anticipated freshman house album titled The Calling which features appearances from Mathata Boys and Jika Boys who are also making waves in South Africa. Our project also features Valzie Veinz (Tanaka Mudgigariwa, DJ Keitho and Yarisah Bells who has produced a track with DJ Maphorisa.

“DJ Maphorisa’s hit tracks such as Africa Unite and Buya have been positively received by the masses with over 6 000 downloads within a period of two weeks,” said Mabhoroz.

Backed by Live a Little Records Co (UK), the album release for the Mutual Frandz Boys will be promoted by a region-wide tour in major cities — Bulawayo, Gweru, Harare, Plumtree, Gwanda and Victoria Falls.

Added Mabhoroz: “Our music is of a higher quality and we want to reach out to as many people as we can in our home country to promote our newest project before joint tours in SA with Mathatha and Jika Boys.”

Maan Roots also stated that apart from their hit tracks Buya and Africa Unite which are played on various radio stations including Power FM, 5FM in South Africa and internet radios in the UK, other tracks to look out for include Izizwe, Come Closer, Mama We, and Organ Donor which already have a great reception during performances.

“A great way of trying out a new track is by playing it during performances to see the crowd’s reaction — which is always great since the fans come first as without them we wouldn’t have the drive to be working this hard,” said Cash, a member of the collective.
The boys’ drive and musical diversity have seen them branching out to various genres and dabble in them.

Apart from the house album they are also working on a hip hop/kasi rap mixtape which is scheduled for release next year and will feature Mutual Frandz’ newly-signed Valzie Veins, producer Stones Reggie Moyo, Kidd Kush, Mixbrid, Ray Ray from SA and other various rap talents.
“We are also in the process of shooting a music video for the hit track Buya with Jika Boys and it will be released soon,” added Maan Roots.
