ORLANDO Pirates won this year’s Carling Cup after a two nil triumph over Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium yesterday, with their conquest witnessed by some Zimbabweans whose trip to Mzansi was sponsored by Delta Beverages.
Zambian striker Augustine Mulenga and Bafana Bafana midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch were on target in the first half as the Buccaneers overwhelmed Amakhosi in front of a huge crowd at the venue which hosted the 2010 Fifa World Cup final.
Seventeen Zimbabweans were present at the iconic stadium to watch the biggest club fixture in South African football. Of these, 10 were winners of two promotions conducted by Delta Beverages for consumers of the Carling Black Label Beer.
On the field of play, two Zimbabweans were on the losing end. Willard Katsande played the entire match while Khama Billiat, appearing in the Carling Cup for the first time, was substituted in the 66th minute.
