Players will never make money playing locally Warriors team

The Sunday News

Zenzo Moyo

IN the past players had a natural passion for the game unlike now where they prioritise money more than the game.

The situation is killing the standard of the game. As much as we don’t want clubs to exploit players, the current generation needs to know and understand, you will never make money playing locally.

This is because of the state of our economy as we do not have sound sponsorship unlike in other countries, for example South Africa and Europe.

Local football will give you a platform to shine and move across the border or abroad. I have seen players sit-out and not train waiting for their grievances to be solved, totally doing it the wrong way.

Players should train, if need be train on your own, I hardly see players doing road runs anymore.

When the club/s sorts out the grievances and its game time the players fail to compensate by notching good results.

The players should look at transferring and aim for that. Clubs are not getting what they put out, instead their part is to help society (player) to showcase his/her skill and go where there is money and in return the family benefits.

The same player/s when seen or scouted want to go for free, hence the club that gave them the platform is left without any resources to groom other players.

All I’m saying is that a player should play regardless of the hardships and showcase his talent to the fullest. Make the club/s a stepping stone.

The biggest problem is demanding appearance fee instead of winning bonuses hence the standard is dropping. A player must be able to look far ahead into the horizon and not at their toes.

Putting the club first and yourself second will make you value the badge of the team, that’s the reason it is next to your heart. Remember charity begins at home.

Until next week, I will be telling it as it is; without fear or favour. All the best to the Warriors at the Afcon.

Go Warriors Go!
