PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has donated 20 state-of-the-art computers to Marimasimbe Secondary School in Gokwe South as part of his drive to improve education in the country.
The computers were handed over to the school by the Minister of State for National Security in the President’s Office, Cde Owen Ncube, last week.

In his speech, Cde Ncube who is also Gokwe-Kana constituency legislator said the gesture was a sign of President Mnangagwa’s benevolence and ability to respond to people’s concerns.

“We are blessed to have a President like him (President Mnangagwa) who listens and responds to the people.

“The last time he came here (Gokwe Centre), you presented your grievances and he listened.

“Among them it was the need for computerisation of schools and connection of electricity, now he sent me to present them to you,” said Cde Ncube.

Minister Ncube said he would complement the President’s effort to uplift the standards of Gokwe people by ensuring most schools in the area were computerised.

“Gone are the days when Gokwe used to be a backward place, I am going to ensure that there is Wi-Fi here since we have already have a network booster nearby.

“We want Gokwe to be in touch with technology,” said Cde Ncube.
Receiving the computers on behalf of the school, Gokwe South Schools Inspector Mr Tavelani Moyo said the computers will go a long way in improving the teaching of computer science.

“We are really grateful to His Excellency for the gesture which is in line with the updated education curriculum.

“One of the major components of the curriculum which emphasises on Information Communication Technology has been satisfied,” he said.

Mr Moyo said the community would also benefit as computer lessons would be offered to villagers while teachers and learners can easily carry out their research.

Gokwe South District Administrator Mr Edwin Mushindi commended President Mnangagwa and Minister Ncube for the gesture.

“For those who did not know, Minister Ncube is the one behind the connection of power to this school.

“Now the President comes in with computers, surely we should be grateful to such leaders,” said Mr Mushindi.

“We now have network connection in the area courtesy of the MP and the President who are working hand in hand and we are very grateful for that.”

Marimasimbe Secondary School has 511 pupils and 15 teachers.
