PRESTIGE High School in Bulawayo is dedicated to give pupils the best education by developing its facilities in line with the new curriculum.
Located in Cowdray Park and established in 2015 by Turn-up Enterprises, the school has already finished construction of a science laboratory and computer laboratory. The principal, Mr Innocent Masina, said this was in line with the institution’s vision to meet the expectations of the new curriculum which seeks to equip students with hands-on skills for self sustainability.
“We have speeded up the completion of these facilities so as to enable our students to be well versed with computer technology in this modern era. This also makes ease of learning of science subjects which have been identified as the future,” he said.
Mr Masina said the school was engaged in other developments to meet the demands of the public.
“The developments we are doing are meant to make sure that pupils learn in a conducive environment and also offer them quality education. We have sunk a borehole for garden purposes and watering of flowers. We will also be embarking on other projects such as gardening, poultry among others.
We also offer a wide range of sporting activities and arts activities,” he said.
The school, driven by producing the best results, is led by a highly a experienced headmaster who has provided great leadership to quite a number of schools such as Nemane Adventist High School, Tshabanda High School and Tshitatshawa Secondary School. He guided Tshabanda School and saw it transform into a boarding school. He spearheaded the electrification of the school and connection of piped water. The school also recorded 100 percent pass rate at A-level.
Prestige High School also has seasoned teachers who have posted good results in their portfolio. Being a one session school with 17 teachers, pupils have an advantage of being at school from morning to evening and they enjoy the privilege of getting adequate assistance due to the small student-teacher ratio.
“As a sister school of Turn-up, our students have a good advantage of freely accessing newly updated study packs of a wide variety of subjects that cover the newly updated curriculum,” he said.
Mr Masina said the school has an enrolment of 200 students, but they intended to increase enrolment next year.
The school also offers pure sciences, as well as extra lessons for June exams. Enrolment for Form Two and Three has already started. The school recorded an 80 percent pass rate in A-level last year. The owner of the school is Mr Sam Madzingira.
