I AM appealing to the Government to come to our rescue by forcing the businesses which include major supermarkets and wholesalers to reduce their prices because life is now very difficult for almost all the residents and villagers.
As it stands now most families can longer afford to have three meals a day and if this situation continues like this it means we will see many pupils dropping out of school with workers staying at home like the situation we once found ourselves in when thousands of our skilled workers, including teachers and nurses left the country in search of greener pastures.
Our salaries have not yet been increased and all our efforts to engage our employers to increase our monthly salaries have not been successful since these employers say they are not able to do that.
The prices of all basic commodities have been increasing on a daily basis and are no longer affordable to most workers in Zimbabwe.
If you can visit any supermarket and see the prices they charge you will be surprised.
Where exactly will people get that kind of money to buy those goods? I was really shocked to see the price of 2kg rice going for $9 in these shops, 500ml of fresh milk for any amount above $1,50 while 2 litres of cooking oil costs 4,70.
We feel the Government should be doing something to stop this price madness.
Now we have to pay $1 per single journey after the kombi operators decided to increase transport fares for them to remain in business.
Most workers in Zimbabwe earn an average salary of $300 per month so for them to pump out an average of $2 per day we feel this is a very big burden for these workers.
To make matters worse some shops now demand payment in foreign currency which we don’t have.
