Bulawayo Chiefs vs ZPC Kariba
(Luveve Stadium,(7/06/2018 )
In an institution every employee can rise to the level of “incompetence”.
Upon promotion to the top of the ladder, some may rise from the level of competence. I say this because we have score boards at Barbourfields and Luveve Stadiums and a video wall at White City Stadium. While the one at BF sometimes works, can someone from Bulawayo City Council tell us what is happening to the other score boards that are not being used? These boards were put in place during the Region Five Youth Games in 2014. They cost a lot of money and that can not be allowed to go to waste.
Back to the pitch
The point that I would like to emphasise to Bulawayo Chiefs’ coaches is they should work hard to improve attitude. This represents the biggest and quickest source of develoment at both individual and team level. No amount of coaching will ever compensate for poor attitude from players. More and more players are motivated by the desire to be the best. This kind of player views the opponent as an enemy to defeat at all costs, but as a partner sharing a goal in a way that prompts both of them to do their best.
I have said this to Bulawayo Chiefs before, you do not get six points by beating big teams neither can you avoid relegation because of that. The approach from ZPC Kariba was so vibrant in the first 15 minutes, pushing more shots at goal, winning individual duels in crucial areas, exerting pressure on Bulawayo Chiefs when on the ball, putting Chiefs into bruised submission forcing the home team to resort to high long passes.
Finally, from a thrower where the thrower was not marked on the left side of the pitch, he got a return pass, sending a cross for Moses Demera to score with a glazing header for the opening goal just after the breather. When Bulawayo Chiefs were preparing for a contest, a scrambling cross got into their box where they failed to clear for Tawanda Nyamandwe for ZRP Kariba to squeeze in a stunning goal in the near. Chiefs put up some commitment in their play, mixing it up with some Sunday morning park football of missing chance after chance to sum up their day in office.
Tactical tips from the 2018 World Cup
Egypt vs Uruguay
Egypt lost because of an unnecessary foul at wrong time and wrong place, which is typical of African teams in the dying minutes of the game.
Russia vs Saudi Arabia
Singing of the national anthem with passion. I suggest that our national teams learn the national anthem every time they are in camp. City fathers must be aware of what the ichanging rooms looks like inside. Also on bucket sitting issue, we can even begin with 500 every month and not wait to do this in the next 50 years to come.
Portugal vs Spain
The counter attacks from Portugal with swift lightning speed, the dribbling and composure from Diego Costa led to Spain’s equaliser. The tearing defence passes from Andres Iniesta of Spain, the shooting attitude from Ronaldo. Free kick from before him where Spain failed to organise a proper wall where a taller player was needed at the end with is the part the goalkeeper was not covering preferably and I believe Ramos could have blocked the kick. I need to mention this. Ronaldo, on the equaliser in the 90th minute was exquisite, perfect extraordinary. There was concentration behind this accuracy.
Germany vs Mexico
Mexico – the art of disciplined defending with clean tackles, concentration and who says European teams don’t use juju, Germany shot 25 times at goal and failed to score and the effectiveness of Germany short corners did not work this time around.
Brazil vs Switzerland
Switzerland players frustrated Neymar fouling him every time he tried the samba dance on them . Him not losing temper showed his mental strength than in the last World Cup. Small nations tactically are mature, defending by parking a train, not a bus.
England vs Tunisia
The short comings of Africa football when it comes to set pieces were laid bare where Harry Kane headed that decider in the last minutes of the game unmarked in the box. Lastly, I noticed a Tunisia lady supporter in the terraces using a beautiful make up face brush, please could Zifa please buy the same brushes for our ladies’ national team! It takes nine muscles on your face to be angry and one muscle to laugh.
