SAVE the Children on Wednesday donated hygiene packs to 300 households and Government departments in Matobo District meant to enhance the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The hygiene pack consisted of sanitisers, latex gloves, bath soap face masks, liquid soap, buckets, sanitary pads, and other hygiene products.

The items were handed over by Save the Children’s Head of Operations Mr Bhekimpilo Khanye at Maphisa District Hospital and were received by the Acting District Development Co-ordinator Mr Obey Chaputsira together with the Member of Parliament for Matobo North who is also the Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Cde Edgar Moyo.

The handover was witnessed by District Civil Protection Unit members. In his brief speech before the handover, Mr Khanye said his organisation appreciates the good working relationship it has had with Matobo District officials during their tenure of operation which ended in April this year.

He went on to say, “It is because of this good working relationship that has made us to remember your district and we have decided to bring you a small token as we are together trying to contain the spread of the Covid-19 disease.”

Cde Moyo thanked Save the Children for being a friend indeed.

“This donation is part of the preparation process and has come at a critical time where the district is set to receive people at Rhodes Estate Primary School quarantine centre.”
